Fay hitting Ormond By The Sea Florida

Today is Wednesday August20, 2008 and TS Fay has been sending rain and some wind to Ormond By The Sea Florida off and on all day. Temperature is probably in the high 70's and the winds about 25-30MPH with rain heavy at times. The waves look to be about 3-6 feet with lots of whitecaps. The wind now (1:30PM) is blowing in off the Atlantic Ocean.

Moving Tips

Moving Tips
A few hints to help with the moving experience. * Many people move on the first of the month and on weekends so be sure to make arrangements for movers or truck rentals a couple months in advance. * The closer you get to moving day the more hectic things may become. Plan ahead and do some of the things early, like sending change of address notes to friends, family etc. Other things you can do early include: * Decide what you will not move and have a yard sale or donate the items. Clean out the closets, garage, attic and basement. * Make a packing plan. * Have any needed service to your vehicle done. * Arrange for insurance and utilities for your new home. * Arrange for transfer of medical, dental, school and other records. * Plan transportation and care for any pets. * Set up your “packing station” and begin putting things there to get ready. * Set aside an area to put important documents and other items you will be keeping with you on moving day. As you come across an item, put it in that area. Also keep a pad of paper and pen there and list items you want to carry with you and check them off as you locate them. * Look through your bank statements to make a list of accounts to cancel and others to notify of your address change. * Return items you borrowed from friends and neighbors. * If you are moving to a new community set up a bank account there. * Plan to use food in the freezer and pantry so there will be less to pack and move. * Begin packing things you will not use before you move. Holiday decorations are a perfect example. Be sure to clearly label each box and list contents. Mark each box with your new home location.

A few hints for buyers who need to finance a real estate purchase. -Obtain a recent credit report and review it with a mortgage specialist. There may be ways to raise your score prior to applying for a loan. -Increase the down payment. Since risk-averse lenders are avoiding conventional 95 to 100 percent mortgages, an applicant who can make a 10 to 20 percent down payment is much more likely to be approved. -Be prepared to verify income and assets. It’s far more difficult to obtain “no-documentation” or “low-doc” loans today because of stricter underwriting standards. -Apply for a government-guaranteed loan from the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These loans can finance up to 100 percent of the purchase price. Al Raymondi, Broker and owner of Ocean View Realty Group was born in Quincy, MA and graduated from Quincy High School in 1963. He served the the U.S. Air Force including January to December 1966 at the 6924 Security Squadron in Danang Vietnam. Al worked for over 20 years at Blue Cross & BLue Shield of Mass. in Boston on the Medicare program for MA, ME, NH, and VT. He was married to the late Diane (McQuiggan, of Jamaica Plain, MA.) and lived in Quincy, Carver, and Brockton MA prior to relocating to Ormond Beach, FL in 1989. Al and Diane are the proud parents of Scott & Susan, both graduates of Brockton High School, Brockton, MA. Scott served the the Air Force for 4 years as a Jet Engine Mechanic at Langley AFB. He now resides in Palm Coast,FL and has 2 children, Scott Jr. & Samantha. Susan graduated Bridgewater State College, earned her CPA, and is currently residing in Huntington Beach Ca. with her husband Chris Haberl and their two sons, Max and Jake.  Scott Jr was in the US Navy and has a son Scott III and a daughter Hannah.  Al is the Broker for Ocean View Realty Group in Ormond By The Sea Florida. Al's brother Dan and sister Grace still reside in Quincy, Mass.
