Volusia County Florida Unemployment

According to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, the jobless rate in Volusia County Florida was 12.9% in February, 2010, which  is down from the 13.1% rate in January.  February 2009 had an unemployment rate of 9.8%.  Statewide the unemployment rate was 12.2%

Condos for sale in Ormond By The Sea, Florida March 31, 2010

The Ormond By The Sea, Florida inventory of condos for sale through the Daytona Beach Area Multiple Listing Service has increased to 102, which is 8 more than last month.  There are an additional 6 condos under contract awaiting closing.  Of the 102 for sale, 61 are priced at $200,000 or lower with 7 of those under $100,000.

Condos for sale that are directly on the beach are priced from $155,000 for a 2-bedroom 2-bath on the west end of the Regency Plaza to $750,000 for the 4-bedroom at The Tiffany. 

The highest priced 2-bedroom 2-bath condo on the west side of A1A is at Fairwind Shores, asking $269,900.  There are 5 direct oceanfront condos priced lower.

Quarterly homes sold analysis for the first quarter in Ormond By The Sea, Florida

About 40% of the 34 homes sold in Ormond By The Sea, Florida during the first quarter of 2010, throught the Daytona Beach area multiple listing service had lender involvement.  Lender involvement would be a short sale, foreclosure or lender owned property. 
The lowest sold price during the quarter was $67,000 for a 3-bedroom 2-bath on Laurie Drive and the highest was a 2-bedroom 2-bath directly on the beach on Ocean Dunes Drive.  To compare 2010 to previous years, see the chart below.

Ormond Mall in Ormond By The Sea, Florida has Chinese take out restaurant

The China Taste New York style take out Restaurant, is now open at the Ormond Mall in Ormond By The Sea, Florida at 1228 Ocean Shore Blvd. next to the Family Dollar store.
There was a large eat-in Chinese Buffet at the mall years ago that did not last very long.
China Taste has a full menu with all your favorites from appetizers to combination plates and lunch specials.

Homes sold March 2010 in Ormond By The Sea, Florida

Here is a brief summary of the homes sold in Ormond By The Sea, Florida through the Daytona Beach Area Multiple Listing Service during March 2010. Of the 18 sales that closed in March 2010, 5 were bank owed or short sales.

Sold prices ranged from $71,000 for a 2 bedroom 1 bath on River Drive to $565,000 for a remodeled direct oceanfront 2 bedroom 2 bath on Ocean Dunes Drive. Comparing sales volume to previous years there were 14 sales in March 2009 and in March 2008, 12 in March 2007, and 6 in March 2006. The lowest price paid in March 2006 was a 2 bedroom 1 bath on Oceanshore Drive for $190,000

Ormond By The Sea Florida watering restrictions


Daylight Savings Time brings a change in the restrictions for outside watering for areas covered by the St. Johns River Water Management District including Ormond By The Sea Florida.  Homes with odd numbered addresses may water on Wednesday & Saturday while homes with even numbered addresses may water only on Thursday & Sunday.  Watering is only allowed before 10 AM or after 4 PM and when daylight savings time ends in November watering is only allowed 1 day per week. Heffer's Twooo Cafe is now open in Ormond By The Sea Florida


Heffer's Twooo Cafe openned last Monday in Ormond By The Sea Florida at 1460 Ocean Shore Blvd in the Ocean Shore Plaza.  They are open daily for breakfast and lunch.
You can see the ocean as you dine.

Surfside Hotel and Suites in Ormond Beach, Florida to be demolished.

One of the ocean front buildings in Ormond Beach, Florida that sustained substantial damage during the 2004 hurricane season was the Surfside Hotel and Suites at 251 South Atlantic Avenue in Ormond Beach, Florida. The hotel has remained closed since 2004 and the deteriorating condition has been the subject of numerous city of Ormond Beach code violations.  The city has reached agreement with the building owners to begin to raze the building by mid May 2010.  The city has also expressed an interest in the land to use as an ocean front park.
