Volusia county is growing at a steady pace and will continue to do so through2030 according to the University of Florida bureau of economic and business research. The bureau is Florida's ifficial agency for government population estimates. Volusia's population has increased from 443,343 in 2000 to 503,844 in 2006, a climb of almost 14 percent in 6 years. The bureau predicts the county will grow by 60 percent between 2000 and 2030 and reach a population of 705,373. That is an average gain of 8,734 people each year until the year 2030.
