Florida Property Tax Changes

Florida voters will decide on January 29th on a proposed constitutional amendment for property taxes. The plan, recently passed by the legislature, includes the following major changes: - Create an additional $25,000 household exemption. - Let homestead property owners transfer their tax savings when they move. - Cap annual assessments for businesses and second homes at 10 percent. Of course, there is fine print and other restrictions built into the new law and it must still be approved by voters to be implemented.
