Ormond By The Sea Quarterly Newsletter For 4th Quarter 2007

Ocean View Realty Group mails (yes, snail-mail) a newsletter to many Ormond Beach and Ormond By The Sea Real Estate Owners 4 times each year. Our intent is to provide information to these owners that they may otherwise not receive. Local owners have many options for receiving this information but most out of town owners only get this newsletter. Here is information from the newsletter recently mailed. Ocean View provides non-resident owners a source of local information about the local area that they may not otherwise receive. If you have comments, questions or suggestions do not hesitate to contact us. BUSINESS BRIEFS Dr. Miguel G. Tamariz, M.D. at 1010 Ocean Shore Blvd. is accepting new patients in his Family Practice. Lenny’s N.Y. Pizza is open at 1456 Ocean Shore Blvd. The House of Donuts at 1350 Ocean Shore Blvd., is now serving sandwiches and on cold days they will have soup. La Bella Vista, a Gourmet Italian Market and Deli is open at 138 West Granada. Daytona Lagoon has added the Phoenix, a 65’ swinging thrill ride in the center of the Go-Kart track. Noah’s Butcher Shop is coming soon at Granada Plaza. Fish City Grill is now open in the back of the Trails Shopping Center. Cafee Capri Restorante is now open in the Trails Shopping Center. Tradewinds Grille is now open on Hand Ave., in Ormond Beach Pure Skin & Body Care is open at 725 W. Granada. The Purple Dragonfly Boutique is open at 1462 W. Granada. US Airways begins nonstop service to Charlotte from the Daytona Beach Airport in February. Air Tran Airways will offer nonstop service to LaGuardia from the Daytona Beach Airport in February. No new date has been announced for this seasonal service. Air Tran has also resumed a Saturday Flight to Baltimore. LOCAL NOTES An outbreak of Red Tide in early October had everyone coughing. A Holding Company of General Electric Asset Management has purchased the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Hotel at 100 N. Atlantic Ave. for $142 million. The Hotel was formally a Marriott and Adams Mark. According to State Population Data 9,195 people moved to Volusia County in the 12 month period ending September 30, 2007. Most of the new residents came from other areas in Florida. DBCC celebrated their 50th Anniversary in October 2007. Ormond Beach will be erecting "Gateway" signs at entrances to the city over the next several years. Expansion of the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach is still set to be completed next summer. The Greyhound Bus Station in Daytona Beach has seen a makeover with new paint, tile and restrooms. INC. Magazine has rated the Deltona/Daytona Beach/Ormond Beach area as the Fifth hottest place in the country for Business in medium sized cities. The Daytona Beach area CVB has launched a new Ad Campaign to promote the area as a prime tourist spot. A1A from Granada to the Flagler County line was granted Scenic Highway Designation along with the Loop. Route 1 in Ormond Beach from a few blocks north of Granada to the county line will be resurfaced beginning soon. The project should be completed next summer. Florida Hospital Ormond has topped off the new building, which is scheduled to open in July, 2009. J & P Cycles is open at 145 Destination Daytona. A new Playground is open at Fire Station 91 on Atlantic Ave. in Ormond Beach. The theme is a Fire Station and Fire Truck. ORMOND BY THE SEA CONDO MARKET In September 2007 Realtor Marion O’Connor of Ocean View realty Group had 2 of her listings sold. In November 2007, 2 more of Marion’s listing sold. Sale prices for 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Ocean View Condos on the west side of A1A were from $198,000 to $216,500. If you are thinking of selling you should speak to Marion before going any farther.
